Welcome to the first Low Class Euro blog. The point of this blog is to highlight well executed European automobiles. Slammed, styled and tuned is the name of the game. Clean and simple is preferred but the right wild style can be proper if pulled off correctly.
The first feature is a complete labor of love. Jason Willey's 1999 VW Jetta GLX. The VW bug grabbed Jason back in 2004 and this is his second go around. The car was picked up in Danbury, CT in April of 2011. Willey said, "I smiled the whole way home, it was a blast to be in a VW again and the VR sounded great!"
After several wash and waxes the car really started to shine. Jason new he wanted to start swapping parts over from his original Jetta. This car need some love and it was about to get it!
The engine bay needed to be tiddied up. A new battery, painted intake manifold, custom intake and refinished engine covers were the first step.
"Cleaning up the manifold was really easy. Some sandpaper, engine enamel and a couple hours later I was impressed!"
The car was really coming together and Jason decided to throw the Corrado SLC BBS wheels on, a VR6 Euro Deep Lip Spoiler and french the fog lights to complete the OEM+ look.
The car placed 2nd at h2o in Ocean City Maryland in 2011 and then 2nd at Fall Show n Go in Englishtown, NJ. "I was content with the look, but I knew I needed new wheels!!"
Jason wanted something unique but also a wheel that fit nice with the mk3 body lines. "I've always liked the AT Cup wheel but I wanted more bling."
The Mercedes CLK wheel fit the bill and a local seller from NJ had exactly the perfect set! 16x7 et 37 and they only weigh 13 pounds each!
A set of Optiwerks textured side skirts and a (elbow grease) polished intake manifold were added. These mods with the wheels really completed the look and gave it the classy aggressive look he was hoping for!
The wheels are held on with Adaptec Speedware's 5x100 - 5x112 15MM Front and 20MM Rear adapters. They are wrapped in Falken Ziex 912 205/40/16's and the car is dropped with Weitec XS adjustable coilovers.
So far the Jetta has placed 2nd at Spring Show n Go and Jason is hoping for some more hardware this 2012 show season. "It's great to get recognized for your hard work. Most of us put our blood, sweat, tears and money into these cars and best of all, it just feels great to drive it down the road everyday!"
Keep an eye out for more from this guy as this is only the beginning!
